Shadow's Doberman Rescue

WHAT IS SHADOW'S DOBERMAN RESCUE?

Shadow's has been doing Doberman rescue since 1985. I  had a few Dobermans of my own and loved them dearly and still currently have many of my own.  At that time I was seeing many Dobermans that were not being adopted out at humane societies, being euthanized, some being abused by there owners, and people who could no longer keep them.  I felt the need for someone to help this beautiful, intelligent, graceful breed.
Shadow's Doberman Rescue now receives dogs from private shelters, Humane Societies, personal surrenders, and animal control facilities.  Most of the time rescue organizations must pay for an animal taken from a shelter or animal control, just as the public does.  Shelters and animal control facilities normally call when a dog has passed its allotted amount of time, or stressed because of the kennel situation and is due to be destroyed.  Shadow's Doberman Rescue requires that a Placement Application be completed before adopting a dog.  Potential adopters are required to provide a veterinarian reference as well as names of three other people who will give a reference for them.  We ask that potential adopters allow a home visit, if requested.

WE DO NOT PLACE DOGS IN APARTMENTS.

In the event we determine the home to be a healthy and loving environment a Doberman is matched with the adopter's lifestyle and family.   When the adopter arrives to pick up his or her new companion from our rescue, the Adoption Agreement is signed, both by Shadow's Doberman Rescue and the adoptive party.  Shadow's requires an adoption fee.
Where does that adoption fee go?  All dogs adopted through the Rescue are neutered or spayed, heartworm tested, I.D. chipped and given rabies, DHLPP, and Bordetella vaccinations.  Dogs coming into the Rescue with natural ears remain un-cropped.  Besides standard veterinary care necessary for most dogs, some have special health needs resulting in higher medical fees.  In addition, we also bear the expense of feeding and housing.

Porsha

ADOPTED

Doberman
Hello, I am a new intake. I came from a WI Humane Society. My owner surrendered me because she was going into the hospital and would not be able to take care of me any longer. I am a little over 1 year old, spayed, UTD on all shots. A very sweet , smart dog. I know hand signals and verbal commands. I like other dogs but prefer males. Completely house trained. I need a little time to get close with someone new, but after a little time and patience I will be in your heart forever.

ADOPTED

Red and Tan Doberman
Ike has natural ears and a docked tail. He is 2 1/2 years old, neutered, UTD on all shots, and chipped.
I am a very tall and active Doberman  and will need someone with past Doberman experience to handle me. I listen very well but am strong minded. I do get along with other dogs but do need to be introduced to them slowly.
After we meet and greet we are best buds. A fenced in yard is required.  No invisible fencing. No exceptions.

SHADOW

Husky/Lab Mix
I have been recently returned because I would not leave the cat alone. I am about 1 1/2 years old, up to date on all shots, I.D. chipped and neutered. I need a home with no small children and no cats.  I listen very well and I am not a runner.  A fenced in yard would be a plus.  I get along with other dogs, but do act tough when first approached by another dog.  Once I get to know them, I do fine.
